Alexander & Estell McDonald were married in Santa Fe, Kansas in 1888
Alexander and Estell became the parents of John Renwick McDonald in May, 1890 in Santa Fe, Kansas and by 1892, the family had relocated to South Bend, Washington.
The 1900 U.S. census places the family in Lowell, Snohomish County, Washington where Alex (Alexander was referred to as Alex in the census records of 1900, 1910, and 1920) worked as a laborer in a paper mill.
By 1910, Alex, Estell and son John were settled permanently in Everett, Washington; Alex was working as a finisher in a paper mill and John was a laborer in a saw mill. Estell McDonald reported on the 1910 census she had given birth to two children, one of which was no longer living. As of 1920, Alex had changed occupations and was listed as a motorman on a street railway. In 1930 Alex was working for the Everett-Seattle Interurban Railway Company as an "interurban motorman," a well respected occupation. The classy, trolley-like cars were outfitted with leather seats, stained glass windows and mahogany lined interior walls. One of the cars is shown below.

Alexander E. McDonald, 75, of 3912 Wetmore avenue, died at an Everett hospital early Tuesday morning after an illness of a few weeks. Mr. McDonald was born at Albia, Iowa, April 21, 1865, and had lived in Everett and the vicinity for the past 45 years. He was employed at the Everett Pulp and Paper mill at Lowell. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Estell McDonald; one son, John R. McDonald of route two Everett; one sister, Mrs. Jesse Johnston of 3302 Lombard avenue, and three grandchildren. Mr. McDonald was a member of Lowell lodge No. 92, Knights of Pythias, and Peninsular lodge No. 95, F. and A. M. Officers of Peninsular lodge will conduct the funeral service at Jerread's chapel Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Estell McDonald of Route 2 Everett died at a local hospital Sunday afternoon, following an extended illness. Mrs. McDonald was born at Albia, Iowa, December 15, 1860, and she has been a resident of this community for the past 50 years. She is survived by one son, John R. McDonald of Route 2 Everett, three grand-children, and three great-grand-children. Funeral services will be conducted at Jerread's Chapel Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Edward C. Raue of the First Presbyterian Church will conduct the service. Interment will be in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Julia J. McDonald of Rt. 2 Everett died at a local hospital Sunday morning. She had been ill for several months. Mrs. McDonald was born at her present home near Cavalero Corner Aug. 7, 1885, and has lived there all her life. Surviving are her husband, John R. McDonald; two sons, Lawrence and Galen McDonald at home; one daughter, Mrs. Vernon M. Wright of Sultan; a sister, Mrs. Marion Carboneau, Rt.2 Everett; two brothers, William Mathews of Concrete and Edward J. Mathews of Coupeville; and three grandchildren. Requiem Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will be Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Edmond Long will be celebrant. Burial will be in the family plot in Cypress Lawn Memorial Park.

John Renwick McDonald, 1505 McDougall Ave., died at a local hospital Monday evening. Mr. McDonald, a retired farmer, was born May 29, 1890, and had resided in Everett and county since 1892. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Genevieve McDonald at home; two sons, Lawrence and Galen McDonald of Everett; one daughter, Mrs. June Wright of Sultan, and three grandchildren. Funeral Services will be announced later from the chapel of Challacombe-Fickel and Precht.
Funeral services for J. Renwick McDonald, 1505 McDougall Ave., who died Monday, will be in the chapel of Challacombe-Fickel and Precht Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The Rev Carlton Goodwin of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Cypress Lawn Cemetery.

Julia J. McDonald died November 22, 1953 in Everett and is buried in her family plot at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park. John Renwick McDonald later married Genevieve McDonald. John died January 12, 1959 in Everett and is buried with Julia in her family plot at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park.
