Alfred William and Josephine Love were married in 1895 in California.
Alfred William, who went by "William," left Iowa in the early 1890's and, according to Delbert Love, William's great-nephew, was never heard from again.

William married Josephine Guy Ross in 1895 and their son, Albert W. Love was born on March 6, 1899. The 1900 U.S. census places the family in North San Juan, California (roughly 60 miles northeast of Sacramento) where William worked as a millwright. The census also shows two children from Josephine's previous marriage to Daniel Ross, Annie Ross, born in July 1883 and George Ross, born in January 1887, listed as William's step-children. [The 1880 census shows Josephine, 22, her husband, Daniel Ross, 36, and their 8-month old son, Charles Ross, living in Plymouth, California. Although Josephine indicated on this and all later census records that she was an American Indian, her father was a German immigrant and her mother was an American Indian.]

William and Josephine's son, Albert W. Love died in 1905.

The 1910 U.S. Census indicates that the family moved about 40 miles northwest to Chico City, California where William and his step-son, George, worked as carpenters. Josephine stated for the census record that of the 4 children she'd had (Charles, Annie, and George Ross, and Albert W. Love) only 2 were still living. Since the census goes on to report that George W. Martin, 4, and Blanche C. Martin, 2, (listed as grandchildren, both born in California, father born in Missouri, mother born in California) were living with William, Josephine, and George Ross, it may be safe to assume that Josephine's daughter, Annie died sometime between 1908 and 1910, leaving Charles and George Ross as Josephine's only surviving children.

By 1930, the family had moved to El Dorado County, California which is in "gold mining country" and close to Lake Tahoe. William and George listed their occupations as "carpenter" and Josephine "at home."

Alfred William Love died January 17, 1933 in Stockton, California of a cerebral hemmorhage after having been struck by a car. Josephine Love died June 12, 1942 in Sacramento, California. George J. Ross died July 5, 1958 in Napa, California.
Alfred William and his twin brother, Albert Samuel, were born on March 6 and 7, 1852, respectively, in Seneca Falls, New York. The boys moved with the family to Glasgow, Iowa where Albert Samuel died in 1855.
