According to Delbert Love, George Orton's nephew, George worked as a salesman at Marshall Fields in Chicago.  He and Marie moved to Dallas, Texas in 1936, due to his chronic sinus troubles, where he worked as a salesman for the Butler Brothers Company.  George described the Butler Brothers as a company dealing in "variety merchandise" in the 1940 US Census record. The Butler Brothers later started the well known Ben Franklin 5 and Dime Store chain.  George and Marie had no children.
