The Albia Interurban
Railway Company
Albia Interurban Railway Company's Car #9 (a wooden car built in 1910 that can accommodate 36 passengers) has enjoyed a much longer life than the company for which it was built. Since the demise of the electric interurban railway, Car #9 was repurposed as a service car for Iowa Southern Utilities but was later remodeled to again be used to transport passengers. It was purchased in 1968 by the Midwest Electric Railway Museum in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and can still be seen there. Car #9 is used every summer in the well known and attended Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant. The following are photos of the car from more recent days.
