Charles Henry Inglefield was born in Montgomery County, Ohio to Cornelius I. and Jane Banks Inglefield who were also the parents of Emily, Cornelia, Samuel J., Mary, Sarah, and Martha. All of the children were born in Ohio except Martha, who was born in Knoxville, Iowa where the family moved in the mid 1850's.

Charles served his country in the Civil War. He enlisted in Company A, Iowa 47th Infantry Regiment on May 7, 1864 and was mustered out as a 3rd Corporal on September 28, 1864 in Davenport, Iowa.

After Margaret died, Charles relocated to Oswego, Labette Co., Kansas. The 1870 U.S. Census shows him, at age 24, a widower, and working as a hardware merchant.
Charles married Eva Estelle Bailey on January 12, 1871 in Marion County, Iowa. Eva was born in Knox, Illinois on January 6, 1850 and moved with her family to Liberty, Marion County, Iowa by the age of 10. Charles and Eva were the parents of Chester D., Flora J., and Nellie Blanch. Charles spent his life in retail sales, from hardware to clothing to groceries.
Eva died on March 9, 1917 in Sedan, Chautauqua Co., Kansas and the 1920 U.S. Census shows Charles living with his daughter and her family, Nathan B. and Flora J. Wall and their children Harold H., Charles I., and John M. Charles Henry Inglefield died January 23, 1926. He and Eva are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Sedan, Kansas.
