Samuel D. Love grew up on W. 22nd St. in New York, the first child of Samuel and Margretta Donnellon Love. The first mention of Samuel as an adult in US Census records was in 1900. At the age of 23, he was living in Wawayanda, Orange County, New York and working as a machinist.
Samuel's future wife, Mabel Remey, was born in Minisink, another small town in Orange County, New York in about 1879 to Emmett and Jennie Ramey. Samuel and Mabel may have met while Samuel was getting his life started in Orange County as they married in about 1902. Mabel's parents were still living in Minisink as documented by the 1930 US Census.
By 1910 the Loves were living at 556 West 184th St. in New York City, Samuel was employed as a machinist and the couple had 3 children, Samuel Livingston Love, age 7, and twins Margaretta and Mabel R. Love, age 6. Also living with the family was Marguerite Elliott, companion.
The 1920 US Census shows the Samuel and Mabel Love family living at 235 Milton Avenue in Rahway, Union County, New Jersey. Samuel's occupation was described as "Engineer - Pressure Co." In the ten years since the previous census, another son, Edward Winters Love, joined the family, having been born November 9, 1910.
Samuel, Mabel and family were still living at 235 Milton Avenue in Rahway, New Jersey as of April 7, 1930...the date they were visited by the 1930 Census taker. That particular census asked the question "Do you own or rent your home; if you own, what is your home's value and if you rent, what do you pay monthly?" Samuel and Mabel responded that they rented their home for $60 per month. Sam was employed as "Sales Engineer for a Pump Company," son Samuel Livingston Love, 27, worked as an underwriter for an insurance company, daughter Margaretta D. Love, 25 was an insurance agency clerk. Son Edward, 19, was not employed.

Samuel Donnellon Love died in late December, 1936. Mabel Remey Love died October 11, 1964. The couple is buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
Samuel married Lorraine Strauch June 27, 1933 in Springville, Susquehana County, Pennsylvania. Lorraine was born October 30, 1908 in Jamestown, Chataqua County, New York. Samuel was a Red Cross Field Director in World War II. Lorraine worked as a nurse. The couple later divorced and Lorraine died of Huntington's Chorea in 1958 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Samuel married Thelma Peace on December 15, 1952. Thelma was born April 16, 1912 in Gray, Knox County, KY and died in December 1993. Samuel died in September 1968 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida.

Margaretta Donnellon Love was born December 20, 1903 in New York. She was particularly talented in math and became a bookkeeper for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in New York City. She married George Hermann Stanwood on June 1, 1933 at the home of her parents in Colonia, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
Margaretta died January 1, 1953 in Highland Park, Illinois. George died February 18, 2004 in Sarasota, Florida.

Edward Winters Love was born November 9, 1910 in New York and married Georgana LaPorte January 30, 1936 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Georgana was born August 11, 1913 in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey to James C. (born 1879) and Mabel A. LaPorte (born 1884). The couple's son, James Donnellon Love, was born September 16, 1938 in Westfield, Union County, New Jersey and died November 27, 2004 at Burt Lake, Cheboygan, Michigan. Georgana died June 22, 1989 in Westfield, Union County, New Jersey, where Edward died May 22, 1993.

Margaretta and George were the parents of 2 sons, one of which was Edward Ruxton Stanwood, born December 24, 1937 in Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois and died September 25, 2005 in Deerfield, Lake County, Illinois.
Edward Ruxton Stanwood, 67, lifelong resident of Bannockburn, died Sept. 25.
Edward Ruxton Stanwood was born Dec. 24, 1937 in Oak Park, Ill., attended Highland Park High School, graduated from the University of Colorado, and received a master's of business administration degree in finance from Northwestern University.
Mr. Stanwood was employed at Smith Barney in Chicago as senior vice president of investments.
Memorial services were held Oct. 2 at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church, Deerfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edward Ruxton Stanwood Memorial Fund, c/o St. Gregory's Episcopal Church, Deerfield and Wilmot Roads, Deerfield, IL 60015. Funeral arrangements were made by Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home.

Mabel married Marshall Spooner in about 1927 in New Jersey. Howard Spooner was born in Massachusetts in about 1901 and was a graduate of MIT. He worked for the NJ public utility as an electrical engineer and was a specialist in underground high voltage cables. Howard made wonderful jigsaw puzzles for the family at Christmas. Mable became a school teacher. By 1930 the Spooners were living at 16 Stiles Street in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey (renting @ $60 per month). The 1940 U.S. Census shows the Spooners living with Mabel's mother at her home in Summit, New Jersey. Howard was working as an electrical engineer and Mabel was not working. He and Mabel were the parents of two children. Daughter Janet was born in New Jersey in 1931 and married Patrick Joseph Ryan in the late 1940's. The Ryans had 5 children, one of which, Dan, died August 11, 2015.

Son John Eldridge Spooner was born May 24, 1940 in New Jersey and was married February 12, 1977 in New Jersey. John died March 4, 1992 in Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida. Howard Spooner died in November 1978 in Summit, New Jersey and Mabel Love Spooner died in March 1983 in Zephyrhills, Pasco Co., Florida.
